Personalized Artwork - Content to Rent Idea #12

Hey hey! How is your week going? It's Wednesday, so that means it's time for the next post in my Content to Rent series. In case you haven't seen this series before, it's a weekly post I'm doing that spotlights decorating ideas for renters. The plan is to show you decorating ideas that are stylish, affordable and easily removable.

Today's post is one that I could go on and on about-- creating (or buying) personalized artwork. There is no quicker way to feel like you're at home than seeing meaningful artwork on the walls. Plus it's a great way to add color and often you can DIY personalized art on the cheap.
I honestly had such a tough time narrowing down this idea and pondered breaking it into a few separate posts. I tried to find inspiration in several different categories, at least to get your creative wheels turning. Here are a few of my favorites!

Places You've Been
Beyond printing out your vacation pictures, you can proudly display artwork showing others about where you've been, and hopefully reminding you of a fun trip!
How fun is this print? My husband and I have been fortunate enough to chaperone a few trips to Germany, and Neuschwanstein Castle was one of my favorites to see. This playful print would be a cute addition to our home.
I also like the idea of creating a family travels wall map. This one used different colored pins to indicate where different family members had been as well as places they'd like to go as a family. I think this would also work well with a United States map.

Where You're From
How about some pride for your state? There are tons of fun ideas out there on Pinterest and Etsy and they can be easily customized for any state.
I actually own this one, and I love the pop of color it adds to the room!
You have to love this sentimental chalkboard state art, which would also make a great gift!
One more state art project, this one by the talented Chelsea at twotwentyone. Somehow she makes everything look easy, so I might have to give this one a try myself!

Sentimental Art
This could mean many things to many people, but I'm thinking about artwork that is about your significant other, your family, maybe some family members that are no longer with us. It's so nice to have art that reminds you of the people that mean the most to you!
Talk about an easy project! This DIY canvas art is 100% customizable, so you can pick anything you want to go on the canvas, from a motto or a quote, to someone's name.
I love this huge wall art! It's bold without being in your face, and such a sweet photo is one you wouldn't mind seeing every day. Plus you can't beat the price tag on this one- talk about bang for your buck!
This embroidery hoop art is adorable, don't you think? I think it would be super cute in a nursery or kid's room. It could be easily customized both in terms of the fabric as well as the font and text.
So this one isn't necessarily sentimental, unless you happen to have saved or inherited vintage handkerchiefs to hang as wall art. I thought this idea was worth including though because I often see beautiful handkerchiefs at thrift stores and antique malls. I love how the simple frames and square arrangement allow the handkerchiefs to be the stars of this display.
Creating wall art about important dates to your family is such a clever idea! This date art is a clean and graphic reminder of a memorable date. I think this would be perfect to display your wedding date, don't you?
The method to create this quote art is another one that is so simple, anyone could do it! I love the sparkly gold letters, and the quote is perfect next to the other picture of this couple.

Typography
Why not get in on the typography trend in your home decor?
This watercolor initial art is stunning! I love the font and the colors, although you could customize either of them to match your own decor. This would make a fantastic gift too!
This large-scale button art is amazing! This would take some patience, and a whole lot of buttons, but what a fun piece of art.
This ampersand artwork is so bright and colorful. You could easily customize the colors and styles to suit your own decor and still make a statement.
This burlap monogram wall art would be a great addition to an entryway, or could even be hung as a sort of wreath. Plus it would take less than 5 minutes to create, bonus!
I would have never thought to make a monogram out of dots from a pencil eraser. Seriously clever idea! And this one even had coordinated colors to match the decor.

I also wanted to include one of the projects I've done in this list: creating personalized artwork with the Waterlogue app. Click here for my whole post on how to make your own watercolor artwork from any digital photo.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the most recent post in my Content to Rent series. You can stop by again next Wednesday for another affordable decorating idea for renters (or those who prefer to change their decor frequently!).
